Game Description

Whale Wars is a Strategy Game for two Players. Both Players play and control a group of Whales as they continue to fight their ancient war. Players must use the environment to their advantage if they hope to finally win the war.

Development Overview

Whale Wars was designed Mechanic first and then the theme was added on top to make it far more interesting. This is very rare for me as I usually come up with the Story and the Theme and find Mechanics that can exemplify the story and gameplay.

The game was designed around my desire to remove Attack Dice and HP systems that can very often slow down the game. Instead, I wanted to focus on having the environment being a large part of the game. Every unit in this game simply "pushes" units by charging into them. Depending on the momentum of the Unit, that is how far back the unit moves back. If it gets pushed into a coral reef or smashed against the rocks, that unit is destroyed. Different units are able to affect and change the momentum of the Charger so that they can "Push" the units back farther. The goal of the Player is to destroy the opponents King.
