Award Winning Papers

In 2013, I won Gold in the GDC Game Narrative Review contest. The paper I wrote focused on how Majora's Mask used its gameplay to tell its narrative and how we can apply those same concepts to modern games.

Published Articles

The International Game Developer's Association decided to publish an article I wrote and submitted to them on their Perspectives Newsletter. The article is about how Board Games act as the core ruleset to all video games.

Universe Building

This Transmedia Universe plan further explores the universe I created for Exitus, looking at how to expand the characters and stories into other media, like books and/or movies.

Comics

Old Debts is a comic I made for class about an old knight, forced out of retirement in an attempt to slay the last dragon and rescue his granddaughter. The story examines an old man at the end of his life as he thinks about who the real monster is and the cycles of hatred.

This comic is an exploration of a game concept called The Unretired Knight that looks to combine Secret of Mana gameplay with PS1-era low-polygon and sprite art style, but updated with lighting techniques and HD sprites..

RPGs and RPG Analysis

Abigail, Arizona is an RPG System designed to be enjoyed by anyone, young or old. The system is simple and flexible and takes the Players on a journey to 1872, the Wild West.

I wrote a short paper examining the design decisions that went into TMNT and Boot Hill and how these design decisions created completely unique and different experiences for the Player.
